GANTRY CRANES

Overall Structure:
A gantry crane is a type of overhead crane that is supported by legs that run along the ground on rails. This gives it a distinctive A frame or portal-like shape. It is designed to move heavy loads along a horizontal beam that is supported by these legs.
Components:
Legs (or A-frames) : These are the vertical supports that hold up the horizontal beam. They travel along rails on the ground, allowing the crane to move along a linear path. These legs give the crane a very distinctive look.
Beam (or Girder) : This is the horizontal beam that spans the width of the area where the crane operates. It supports the trolley and hoist. This is where the trolley travels back and forth.
Trolley:
This is a unit that moves along the beam, carrying the hoist. It provides the horizontal movement of the load along the beam.
Hoist : This is the lifting mechanism that raises and lowers the load. It can use wire ropes, chains, or other lifting devices.
